Overview

John Belak received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1987. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Mr. Belak received additional certification in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Federal Alternative Dispute Resolution Council, Inc. through the University of Louisville School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Belak is Certified as a Specialist in the Practice of Workers’ Compensation Law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Section on Workers’ Compensation Law. Mr. Belak concentrates his practice in workers’ compensation defense litigation, representing clients ranging from national corporations to small businesses. He practices before Workers’ Compensation Judges throughout Pennsylvania, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (WCAB) and the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Carpenter, McCadden & Lane, LLP, Mr. Belak practiced exclusively in the areas of workers’ compensation and social security disability for more than 25 years.  He also has served as Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section. The Best Lawyers in America, a highly respected national peer-review publication, selected Mr. Belak for inclusion in its 2013 through 2021 Editions in the category of Workers’ Compensation Law.
